JURASSIC WORLD: MARKETING CAMPAIGN

Today in class, I looked at Gareth Lowrie's presentation of the marketing campaign for Jurassic World (Universal Pictures). This allowed me to better understand how Jurassic World was able to draw in a vast audience and they got to the top 2015 Global Box Office.

GOOGLE DOCS

My group and I decided to also create a group chat on GoogleDocs. This is a free web-based application in which documents and spreadsheets can be created. It also allows you to include other people in your document. By creating this document my group and I are able to write down whatever we feel is important and each member can see this person typing on their screen. GoogleDocs has proven to be very useful as not only can it act as a sort of group chat but we can also all have the same document immediately.
Below is a photo collage I have made about Google Docs. I made this using the website "BeFunky".

My group and I plan to continue to use this website as it is very helpful and useful in coming up with ideas and writing them down quickly.

WHATSAPP GROUP CHAT

My group and I decided that we should make a group chat using the free app, "Whatsapp". We created this chat so that we could keep in touch when we were not in lessons. It allowed us to send each other new ideas that we could include for our film trailer.

Below is a screenshot from my phone, showing our group chat conversation.

RESEARCH: CODES AND CONVENTIONS - FILM EDUCATION

Today in class I visited the site FilmEducation and looked at the film trailer codes and conventions section. I also did a quiz on the website which tests your knowledge of the codes and convention for a film trailer. This quiz helped remind me what I have learnt.

Below is a screenshot of the quiz on the website. You can click HERE to visit this quiz on their website.

RESEARCH: CODES AND CONVENTIONS

Today in class I have made an infographic using the online presentational tool, picktochart. On my infographic page I have explained what I have learnt about codes and conventions for film trailers.

FUTURE LEARN

Today I signed up to an online course called Future Learn. I signed up to this course earlier in the year but decided to do it again as I thought I would learn even more this time and it would be a good reminder of what I learnt last time. The website allows anybody to take up any of the available courses they wish and the courses last 6 weeks. Today I signed up to the "creative arts and media" course and then clicked on "explore filmmaking: from script to screen" (which is what I did last time). By signing up to this course I hope that I am able to deepen my understanding of the filmmaking process.

Click HERE to go to the online page shown below in the picture.

Each day the NFTS (National Film and Television School) release a new task to complete. Look at the picture below to see my progress so far.

The boxes that are coloured blue are the tasks that I have completed. The boxes in pink are the ones that I have clicked on but haven't yet completed. The boxes with no colour are the links that I have not yet clicked on.

Each post/ task contains either a short video to watch or a picture to look at. The videos will normally be of clips from recent short films, or an interview of one of the filmmakers.
After doing this I then go on to read the writing below. Sometimes they will ask me to leave a comment about the video. Not only am I am able to leave comments but I'm also able to read other peoples comments and can even "like", reply or follow them. This will enable me to learn from others aswell, therefore further enhancing my understanding on filmmaking.
